Point Zero, You Had Me at Curvy

If you’re a fan of mine you know that I’m a big fan of Point Zero Curvy. I discovered this affordable, casual brand last August through my boutique SexyPlus Clothing. I was over the moon excited to offer this line to my customers, and inevitably, I end of scoring a few pieces for myself.

This post features a great way to take basics, and layer them in seasonal ways.

Take a:

  • Chevron cami
  • Oversized cape
  • pair of leggings
  • and some booties

and you have a comfortable, cozy-up, movie-watching outfit. But these pieces can give you way more mileage. The cape, for instance, is a great piece to keep at work for those chilly days, and the cami is a light weight piece that can be paired with all those black or solid cardis and jackets most of us already have.

The faux leather detailing on the cape gives it a touch of urban edge and ups the style factor, as is the case with most Point Zero designs.

The cami is long enough to wear with leggings and I love it’s slight asymmetrical hemline.

I chose burgundy leggings for this look but it would have worked fabulously with black ones, or with jeans.

This is a comfy, but not “bummy” weekend casual look.

The adorable booties are from Ardene – that’s right, the accessories super chain. They have great footwear in regular sizes so for me, even though I’m plus size in the body, my feet a regular so I can actually enjoy cute pieces from this store. And they were on sale for $20. No brainer, right?

For the jewelry, I could have gone with either a round necklace to complement the neckline of the cami, or a long pendant which is what I chose. I borrowed it from my blogger buddy Lisa, and it’s from Lane Bryant. They’re a US chain of stores that offer plus size clothing, footwear and accessories.

So tell me, what does your “casual” look like? Do you default to the trusted yoga pants or do you still put the effort in coordinating like you would for the office? Sometimes it feels good to put some effort into your casual looks and it can entirely change how you approach each day.

Special thanks to Lisa of the blog Mustangsallytwo for taking these pics for me.

Be true to you

Over the years, despite my passion for fashion, my casual style turned into yoga pants and a hoodie because there was such limited selection in casual styles out there. Can anyone relate? But as I’ve said before, we’re living in a good time for plus size fashion and beauty diversity. With more and more brands recognizing that curvy girls want chic, sexy styles and the same cute clothing that is available in regular sizes, we’re getting more selection and greater accessibility – and THIS allows us to express ourselves more authentically.

One brand that I am so totally in love with is Point Zero and their new Curvy line because it allows me to be myself: casual, but chic. They’ve taken all the current trends like faux leather detailing, burnout fabrics, cut-outs, open backs, lace, sexy animal prints, and made them in plus sizes.

Take the t-shirt I’m wearing for this look. It’s long enough to be worn as a tunic, and it has some dramatic style and color with a romantic printed message “Light sleeper but a sweet dreamer”.

I paired it with this leatherette cuff cardigan and voila, I have a casual chic, even office appropriate look, that started with a t-shirt.

And these leggings are like pants because they’re made of this thick ponte fabric with leatherette detail.

You may have also noticed those amazing red boots. I’ve been searching for a cool red flat wide calf boot since forever and my dream came true this year when I found these. Designed by Boots By Pamela, they have a sexy lace up, corset-style back. They literally kick up any outfit and make me feel powerful.
