Melissa McCarthy Plus Size Clothing has Arrived!

As some of you already know from my over-active Instagram feed, I was lucky to attend the Melissa McCarthy “Seven 7” Plus Size Clothing launch at Penningtons a few weeks ago. WHAT AN EPIC EVENT! Elegantly catered, attended by local AND celebrity bloggers, and bee-you-ti-ful plus size clothing.

With a mini fashion show modeled by bloggers, my admiration soon turned into purchases when I saw Melissa’s line styled so expertly.

The blogger & model line up (from left to right): Chastity from Garner Style, Gail from Fab Four Fashion, Jessica from Skorch Magazine, Assa from My Curves & Curls, Jessica from Clothes & Shit, Garcia from Flaws of Couture, Karen from Curvy Canadian, Sasha from Flaws of Couture, Sarah from Ravings by Rae and Chante from Everything Curvy & Chic.

After enjoying the fashion show presented by Erica on Fashion, and schmoozing with other guests, I dove in to shopping and trying on Melissa’s new line. The fabrics were good quality and luxurious to the touch, and the fit was bang on. I fell in love with this reversible poncho – talk about casual yet chic!

In contrast to how Assa had styled it with the black side out, and white jeans (which was so appealing), I styled it with these shiny spandex leggings (à la Olivia Newton John) and the cream side of the poncho out to show how pretty it is either way.

And I love clothing that can be worn several ways because I feel like I’m getting more mileage for my spend, right?

Wondering what the words are? Well Melissa didn’t just put any old script font on it – she wanted it to have meaning. The words “Happy Happy Joy Joy” do indeed make me feel great wearing it.

You can actually wear it as a top on it’s own because it covers you adequately.

And don’t be deceived, it’s actually much nicer in person than on the website, shown below.

I just LOVE it and I can’t wait for the weather to wear it. Thanks Melissa and Penningtons – you definately hit the mark with this lovely plus size clothing line. And again, a special thanks to my Mom for taking these great photos!

Because Getting Dressed Should be Fun for ALL Sizes!

I don’t know about you, but as materialistic as this sounds, life is more fun when I can look forward to getting dressed in the morning. It makes me wanna get up and take on the day. Especially when I have that brand new piece that I dream about the night before, and plan how I’m going to style and accessorize it in my head.

Well, with more designers and labels diving into the plus size clothing market and recognizing that WE LOVE FASHION and there are a lot of us, things are getting better and better. And Point Zero Clothing Company totally gets that!

They recently introduced a Curvy line that I am soooo in love with because – simply put – it’s 1) stylish, 2) affordable, and 3) fits great.

Their Fall ‘Animal Instinct’ selection is super exciting with a wide variety of printed leggings, fringe cardigans, chunky cable knit sweaters, faux-fur vests and curve-enhancing animal print tops. This sweater-dresses is no exception – zebra print WITH ruching AND striped leatherette detail!?! Talk about my dream sweater-dress!

I REALLY love it because it’s comfy, soft, and lightweight so I won’t overheat, with a relaxed fit (I’m wearing the 1X and I wear a size 16 in dresses).

I am wearing shapewear under this dress because I like the feel of being supported.

Pairing this look with tall boots was a no brainer – flat, wedge or heel – either would suit the look to a T.

Given the high round neckline I chose a long necklace with an edgy fringe to complement the ultra chic urban style.

Point Zero is quickly becoming my favorite casual chic go-to brand because everything about the line makes sense and fits my style. The basics and wardrobe fixers, like cardigans and leggings, are also fab and I’ll feature those in my next post. Recently featured in Canada’s Dare Magazine, Point Zero is taking the Canadian plus size fashion industry by storm.

Do you like the look? Are you a sweater-dress lover like me? Share your thoughts and please comment – I love hearing from you! And let’s have a hand for my Mom who photographed all these pictures and worked very hard to help me capture the essence of this look. ❤

Affordable Casual – Canadian Plus Size Fashion that Makes Cents!

Ok, so you’ve seen a lot of me in dresses – yes, I’m a girly girl – but I also rock some serious leggings in the Fall and Winter months. In fact, I kinda live in them so I need variety. My favorite basic black pair are from SexyPlus Clothing here, but I’ve recently discovered these awesome, super soft and comfy printed ones from the Point Zero Curvy line, also available at SexyPlus.

They fit like a dream. The high waist stays in place and they are just uber luxurious to the touch. Loving the tribal print. For this post, I styled them with the Velvet Embellished Cold Shoulder Top also by Point Zero Curvy. With a loose flowy fit, and a touch of edgy sexiness with the cold shoulders, the outfit was definitely casual yet stylish.

I styled them with these strappy heels as well as with boots to show you the transition you can make into the colder weather.

But I didn’t even mention the best part!!! These gorgeous pieces are so affordable for the quality and fit – they make total CENTS! The top is $48 and the leggings are $39. And this is standard for the new AFFORDABLE CASUAL COLLECTION at SexyPlus – always priced between $29 and $69 – never higher.

My fab statement necklace just brought the outfit up a level.
